Santiago Navarro is a mechanical engineer who works for US DOT, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Research and Technology. He is the Department’s representative for Technology Transfer and works closely with all modal agencies within DOT. Prior to working for the Office of the Secretary, he worked as a rulemaking engineer for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration where he maintained Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards for tires. Prior to working for US DOT, he had ventured into the entrepreneur world with a family owned business where he led a team in designing tire test equipment and evaluating tire performance and managing a test facility. Santiago enjoys spending time working on technology transfer within various areas of transportation. He also enjoys coaching a competitive basketball team and mentoring school students in STEM fields, but most of all he enjoys time at home with his wife, Ann, and their three boys.
